Introducing the perfect blend of sweet and salty – the Peanut Butter Pretzel Buttercream Frosting. This decadent frosting marries the creamy richness of peanut butter with the delightful crunch of crushed pretzels, resulting in a uniquely textured and flavorful treat.
Yield: 12 Muffins
Total Cook Time: 10 min.
Prep: 10 min.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup crushed pretzels
- A pinch of sea salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter and peanut butter together until it becomes light and creamy, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, to the butter-peanut butter mixture. Continue to beat until well combined. The mixture will be quite thick at this point.
- Add the vanilla extract and beat until it’s fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the heavy cream while beating the mixture. After each addition, check the consistency of the frosting. It should be light and creamy. If needed, add a little more cream.
- Fold in the crushed pretzels, reserving a few for topping if desired.
- Beat in a pinch of sea salt to balance out the sweetness.
Your Peanut Butter Pretzel Buttercream Frosting is ready to use! Spread or pipe it onto cooled cupcakes or cake, and sprinkle with a few more crushed pretzels on top for an extra crunch if desired.
